Cleaned bottom of pool, vacuumed fine debris, backwahed filter and letting filter run until later today when we will put winter cover on.

OCLT was down 2 PPM (18) and smelled chlorine, but CC was 0. Added 1 gallon bo 10% LC to bring up FC. I brushed the pool today just in case whatever was living and stuck to the liner. Pool is uncovered and running 24/7. Tested about 6:10 PM and FC was at 22 PPM with 0 CC.
Expecting rain tonight so I put in 1 Gallon of 10% LC, tested after 1/2 hour and FC was at 30. Pool is very clear. Will check FC & CC tomorrow morning but with rain happening it won't be an accurate OCLT.
Pool cloudiness cleared up nicely, decided to do another OCLT. Reading 20.5 FC and 0.0 CC.
Sand filter working better than expected, had to backwash for a 2nd time this morning ... only backwashed 1 time last season. Filter pressure is up about 1 1/2 lbs since this morning so it is filtering out stuff, didn't use any DE yet.

I added 1 gal 10 % LC this morning at around 8 AM, checked chlorine at around noon and drop test showed over 5 PPM (darker yellow than 5). I didn't expect that with low CYA and a cloudy pool. I'll be buying LC today but will do an OCLT tonight with a higher concentration of chlorine.
Got CYA to around 70/80 and had to backwash filter, pressure up 25%.
Winter cover fell into pool so I removed it. Tested chlorine with drop test and it was at 0 overnight and the pool is cloudy so SLAM time. Added 1 gallon of 10% chlorine (all I had) but worked on raising CYA to protect the chlorine, shooting for > 70 for SWG. Once CYA is reached will buy LC for SLAM process. May add some DE to sand filter to help clear cloudiness.
Also vacuumed pool to get rid of winter debris so chlorine can just work on whatever is eating it.
First test of 2024 season. 0 FC, added 1 gallon 10% LC. Will test in about 20 minutes and then tomorrow morning, sun is off pool and winter cover is still on pool.
Will add borax tomorrow to bring up pH.

Measured salt and it was at 1800 but we had rain, my filter was off when I tested and I don't know how long it had been off. Turned filter on to run overnight and I'll test in morning, hopefully salt will be much higher.
Measured 4.5 FC, put the last of LC in to raise FC.

Tested pool and FC was at 5.0 PPM, added some LC. looked at pump timer comes on around 6 AM and turns off around 7 PM. Adjusted time on SWG to match pump timer. I have 1/2 bottle of LC and plan on start using the SWG later in week. Will start with SWG running for 12 hours at 30% and see how it goes.

Added the remainder of the open bottle of liquid chlorine even though FC was 6.5 this morning. I wanted to use it up, I have 2 more bottles and with CYA around 60 I am well within guidelines to be able to go into the pool and not worry about bleaching the liner. Pool Math said 64 oz at 12.5% would raise FC by 4 5 PPM... I think there was a little less than 64 oz and I doubt it was at 12.5% concentration.

Tap CH looks to be between 50 and 60, pH 7.4, TA 10.
09/01/22 6:00 PM - FC 10 5, no loss from this morning, solar cover was put on in AM, CC is 0. TA rose to 70. Salt still at 3200 salt cell is off because of high FC. PH is at 7.8
09/02/2022 figured run time of pump to be 12 hours with SWG 11 hours. SWG starts and stops 1/2 hour after and before pump does Will turn SWG on when FC drops to "in range".
09/04/2022 07:00 - FC 9.0, CC 0.2? (very light pink when using 10 ml sample), pH last night 7.6, TA 70. I haven't turned on the SWG as the chlorine level has been high. Have not tested for CYA or CH since the initial testing/retesting.
09/05/2022 Expecting rain, had about 75 ounces of bleach left so I added it to pool to get rid if it and possibly fight off any stuff that gets invthe pool. If nothing changed from last night there should be about 11 5 PPM chlorine in the pool.
9/10/2022 still haven't turned on the SWG. FC 8.0, CC 0.2, pH 7.4, TA 80,
9/13/2022 measured 2800 salt, SWG showing 2600 and lights flashing need to add some more salt, will add about 20 lbs. FC 7.0, CC 0.2. Turned on SWG, lights flashing means it can still put out chlorine.
9/17/2022 will be closing pool today. Tested pH 7 4, FC 14, Temp 70 and CC 0.0. Turned off SWG in AM, left filter running and I'll need to vacuum.
