FC consumption rate of 3.5ppm (loss of 1 + 2.5 SWG) is a bit of a red flag. Yesterday’s rain and high winds over the past few days have knock lots of debris into the pool, so that’s the explanation for now.

Aquapure 1400 General Fault appeared again today. Fault cleared within a few seconds but I don’t know how long it was on. Minor scale on power probes, most of which washed off with water. Additional cleaning with 4:1 water:acid bath for 20 minutes, followed by rinse with water. Scale removed. Cleaned sensor with isopropyl alcohol, but it still reads 3400 when last Taylor test result was 3000.

1.8ppm of FC should have been added since last test (15 hours @ 50%), per PoolMath. .5 drop = consumption of 2.3ppm over 27 hours, which tracks with yesterday’s estimate. UV was higher today than previous days.

FC dropped by 2 over 3 days, which were overcast. Some sun today and will test again tomorrow. I suspect the SWCG isn’t producing optimally. 4.5ppm should have been added, along with the drop of 2 means 6.5ppm consumed over 3 days, or a little over 2ppm per day. Assuming that is actual consumption vs a problematic SWCG, tomorrow’s test should be 11ppm (1.5 produced - 2 consumed = -.5)

Slight FC drop is still a bit of a concern. It has been heavily overcast for the past 2 days and cleaner didn’t pick up much debris, so pool bottom is relatively clean. SWCG at 50% for 12 hours should produce 1.5ppm of FC, which may be low in high UV, but not when cloudy. .5 drop indicates 2ppm consumption, and actually more since SWCG was at 100% for 5 hours after yesterday’s test. Filter is at 22psi only 10% above the low of 20. pH increase may be due to FC of 10, as it has been very steady for a few weeks. No acid added. Cleaned all test tubes and water collection bottle with alcohol.

Only a 2ppm increase in FC with 100% SWCG production over 19.5 hours. PoolMath calculates +4.8, which would mean consumption of 2.8 overnight/cloudy day, if SWCG is producing as calculated. Running cleaner today. Will do OCLT soon, but algae would be very surprising. FC has been 10+ until the past few days and still well above minimum. SWCG has been suspect for a year, with observed General Faults occasionally, but checked out ok by Jandy last summer. May be reaching end of life in 3rd year.

Temps have been over 90° with bright sun for the past few days, which could have contributed to FC drop. Lots of seeds and pollen from trees starting to bloom were in skimmer baskets. Plus, CYA is low and needs to be increased. Ordered 12# of HTH CYA from Amazon to be delivered tomorrow.

Significant increase in FC, probably due to running the cleaner and adding CYA. CYA test results are suspect due to low lighting at the time of testing, but are in the expected range since adding CYA.
